Blue Cash Everyday New Benefits

Here's a breakdown of what the Blue Cash Everyday Card now offers cardholders:

Cash Back Rewards

Amex's Blue Cash Everyday card revamp includes a restructured rewards system.

Previously, you could earn 3% cash back at U.S. supermarkets (up to $6,000 in purchases per year, then 1% after that), 2% cash back at U.S. gas stations, 2% cash back at select U.S. department stores, and 1% cash back on other purchases.

You'll now still earn 3% cash back at U.S. supermarkets on up to $6,000 per year, but you'll get an increased 3% cash back at U.S. gas stations on up to $6,000 per year.Amex also added a new cash back category, so you can earn 3% on U.S. online retail purchases up to $6,000 per year, then 1%. All other purchases earn the same 1% cash back.

There's no minimum amount required to redeem your cash back, which you can redeem for statement credits toward your account. Previously, you could only redeem your rewards when you reached a balance of $25 or more.

Annual Credit Benefits

One of the biggest changes to the Blue Cash Everyday is the addition of annual credits toward partner subscription services. This is a great benefit for a no annual fee card if you already pay monthly fees for a Disney Bundle or Home Chef subscription.

You'll get a $7 monthly statement credit for The Disney Bundle (up to $84 per year) after spending at least $13.99 per month on an eligible subscription. The Disney Bundle includes membership to Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+ streaming services.

You can also get a $15 monthly statement credit for Home Chef online purchases — that's up to $180 annually toward the meal kit service.

Balance Transfers

Amex is reintroducing balance transfer offers after removing introductory balance transfer rates on all cards during the pandemic.

Now, you can get a 0% introductory APR for the first 15 months from account opening on purchases and balance transfers (including a fee of 3% or $5 of each transfer), with a variable APR of 15.49% – 26.49% after that.

How to Use the Amex Blue Cash Everyday Card

We already like the Blue Cash Everyday from American Express as a no annual fee cash back card for everyday spending. Its new enhancements only make it more valuable for people who spend a lot of money at gas stations, supermarkets, and online — and especially those who already use or are interested in subcribing to the Disney Bundle and Home Chef.

You can maximize the value of the Blue Cash Everyday by swiping the card when getting gas at U.S. gas stations, buying groceries at U.S. supermarkets, and making purchases with U.S. online retailers, to earn 3% cash back on up to $6,000 per category, then 1% after that.

Based on average consumer spending, we estimate this card's annual value at $264.04 — though that's boosted to $464.04 the first year if you earn the $200 welcome bonus after spending $2,000 within the first six months. That's even before accounting for the up to $264 you can earn in annual credits toward the Disney Bundle and Home Chef, all for no annual fee.

Finally, the newly-added 0% intro period for balance transfers makes this a solid option for paying down existing debt. You can use the Blue Cash Everyday as a balance transfer card and take advantage of the 0% introductory period for the first 15 months, then enjoy ongoing rewards and cardholder perks after you pay your outstanding balance. But keep in mind that there are other balance transfer card options with longer introductory periods that may be better options depending on your debt balance.
